Textual Avatars: Motion Capture & Linguistic Point Clouds
Building on the foundation of the Displacement Doorway, this series of experiments further interrogates the boundary between the physical body and its digital representation. Utilizing Kinect-based motion capture, we moved beyond traditional point cloud rendering to explore a linguistic reconstruction of form.
In these studies, the human silhouette is entirely composed of real-time text. We tested two distinct data sources: a live global news feed and dynamic song lyrics, effectively "displacing" the performer into a stream of information. This process explores the friction between a person’s physical agency and the data-driven narratives that increasingly define our digital presence.
